The project

SoNa arises from an extensive program of digitisation of the cultural heritage of the Campania Region: the Ecosistema digitale per la Cultura, as part of the project ARCCA - Architettura della Conoscenza CAmpana, promoted by Scabec.

Beginning with Naples, already praised by Rousseau as a place rich of musical genius and Charles de Brosses as "la capitale du monde musicien", SoNa is an immersion in the multiplicity of Campania's musical cultures, recognised all over the world as one of the most significant areas of creativity. A land that has always sounded (sona in Neapolitan dialect) with different registers and timbres, alternating folkloric traces linked to oral traditions, to classical Neapolitan song, from jazz to rock and pop forms mixed with native musical roots, and even to the sound landscapes of the places.

A large Casa Armonica (Harmonic House), organised in rooms, will welcome and accompany the visitor along a tour. This way he will be able to listen to the voices and sounds of its protagonists, look at images and videos, consult music sheets, "fogli volanti" and "copielle", browse through posters and vinyl covers, as well as access accurate catalogues of materials or build a new transmedia and geolocalised narration. From this perspective, SoNa means to offer all users an online platform capable of preserving, enhancing and making accessible a wide range of sound geography for both academics and music lovers.
