Discover Campania's cultural heritage through in-depth studies and thematic itineraries.
The system we present here focuses on one of the oldest streets in the city of Naples, also known as the cardo major, whose origins date back to the Greek-Roman urban layout of ancient Neapolis.
The current Via Duomo, in addition to being an expression of the historical stratification of the urban fabric, has the peculiarity of hosting a concentration of public and private museums, some of which were built as religious buildings, others for civil use. From an architectural point of view and thanks to the significant permanent collections they display, they constitute a museum network of high historical and artistic value, which in turn is part of a sort of open-air museum. The aim of the multimedia system is to recount this vast heritage, rich in material and immaterial values and an expression of a heterogeneous cultural stratification, in different ways. A multi-scalar knowledge open to different interpretations and levels of depth: from the informative, for so-called mass tourism, oriented towards general itineraries, to the more sector-specific, thanks to specific thematic insights, supported by the scientific nature of the contributions of scholars and researchers, authors of targeted research projects, and specific and updated bibliographies.
A complex system that offers easy and immediate navigation, thanks to immersive reality capable of transporting the user into the urban fabric of different eras, allowing them to read its evolution, as well as the transformations undergone by the building fabric and emerging architecture. Users can thus take a virtual stroll through the architecture, graphically reproduced through scientific surveys and philological historical reconstructions, and enjoy it from multiple angles, accompanied by narration describing the major works of art contained therein. The system therefore lends itself to the different needs of users: from preparing a leisure trip to a multimedia guide along an itinerary, to research and in-depth studies that can be carried out at a later date on specific topics.
